Many of you may have heard about the Afghan Refugee crisis and relocation process we shared about in December. As an update, we’ve heard back from Catholic Charities and they’ve been informed that another 250 refugees will be relocated to Ft Wayne.

Because of this immense increase, Catholic Charities will repurpose The Villa they were using for housing as a short-term location, more like a dormitory, until they can find more permanent housing for individuals when they arrive in Ft Wayne. As part of this increase, they are asking for help in providing critical items they need to provide people when they arrive, but also as they initially transfer to an apartment or home for longer-term housing.

Warsaw Community Church will be one of a handful of churches partnering in the community to help provide some of these basic household and hygiene items. The Refugee Care Project will run until Sunday, March 6.

Supplies Needed: (brand new items only, please)

Household Cleaning Supplies:

  • Brooms and mops
  • Dish soap and laundry detergent
  • Paper towels and toilet paper
  • Trash bags

Personal/Hygiene Supplies:

  • Socks and underwear
  • Bar soap and body wash
  • Shampoo and conditioner
  • Combs, brushes, and hair ties
  • Deodorant and lotion
  • Kleenex
  • Feminine products

Linens:

  • White twin sheet sets
  • White queen sheet sets
  • Baby crib sheets
  • Twin and queen comforters
  • Pillows and throw blankets
  • Bath towels

Kitchen Items:

  • Glassware
  • Pots and pans

Please consider grabbing as many of these items as you can and drop them off at the tubs located at the Info Center by Sunday, March 6. Also, continue to pray for these families as they look to re-establish their lives in a foreign country. Pray that they are welcomed with the love of Christ!
