Severe Weather Policy
Inclement Weather Cancellations
The purpose of Warsaw Community Church’s Inclement Weather and Emergency Closing Policy is to ensure the safety of WCC’s church body, guests, volunteers and staff and to provide timely communications regarding the status of church activities during inclement weather or other emergency situations. Weather conditions may vary throughout the area, so everyone is encouraged to use their best judgement when deciding whether to drive in hazardous conditions.
CLOSINGS AND CANCELLATIONS
Sunday Morning Services
In the event of inclement weather, Sunday morning services will only be cancelled if Kosciusko County issues a Code Red travel warning—no one other than emergency personnel is allowed on the roads. If services are cancelled, the announcement will be communicated as soon as possible after the warning is issued.
If services are not cancelled but driving conditions are hazardous, services can be watched online through the streaming sites provided by our website.
Sunday Night Activities
If Sunday morning services are canceled, all Sunday night activities are also cancelled, including youth group. If services take place that morning but the weather deteriorates during the day, the decision whether to cancel evening activities will be determined by 2 p.m. and communicated by 3:30 p.m., when possible.
Weekday Activities
Mornings
WCC will follow the Warsaw Community Schools morning cancellation protocol. If WCS issues a two-hour delay or cancels school for the day due to inclement weather, all morning activities at WCC will also be cancelled.
Evenings
If morning activities are cancelled or inclement weather develops later in the day, the director of facilities, the pastor of operations and the executive pastor of ministries will determine by 2 p.m. whether evening activities will go on as planned or be cancelled. Cancellations will be communicated as soon as possible after the decision is made.
School In-service Days and Holidays
If school is not in session on a weekday due to an in-service or holiday and hazardous driving conditions develop, the director of facilities, the pastor of operations and the executive pastor of ministries will determine by 8 a.m. whether morning activities will go on as planned or be cancelled. That team will continue monitoring the weather and will determine by 2 p.m. whether evening activities will be cancelled. Cancellations will be communicated as soon as possible after the decision is made.
