God’s Good News doesn’t begin with the New Testament. The story opens in Genesis, flows through all of scripture and comes to a perfect conclusion in Revelation. Although we most often read and interpret the Bible in bite-sized pieces, the Bible is one cohesive story. It has a clear plot line and consistent themes. Understanding that story and finding our place in it is the first step toward growing our faith and living a purpose-filled life.
Scot Keen, director of Ethnos360 Bible Institute Online, will be visiting Warsaw Community Church this fall to present One God, One Story, a six-part workshop on the Bible’s grand narrative. Scot will present session one, Finding our Place in God’s Story, during services at WCC Sunday, Oct. 30. He will then present the other five sessions during a five-hour workshop Saturday, Nov. 12. Lunch and snacks will be provided at the free workshop.
Session 1 | Sunday Oct. 30 | Finding Our Place in God’s Story | 8:30, 9:45 and 11 a.m.
Learn who God is, what He is doing, why we exist and how we fit into His story.
Sessions 2 to 6 | Saturday, Nov. 12 | 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Session 2 | Snapshot of the Biblical Story
Learn how God’s overarching story in the Bible is foundational to living your life for Him. - Session 3 | Validating the Bible as a Grand Narrative
God intends for us to see the scriptures as one grand narrative so we can better understand the details and how they apply to us. - Session 4 | The Power of Stories
All cultures throughout history have used stories to learn, make decisions and shape their worldviews. A lot of worldviews, however, counter the Word of God. Learn how to share the gospel with those who think differently. - Session 5 | Analyzing and Challenging the World’s Views
Identify some of the cultural narratives that are in opposition to God’s word and learn how to align them with His Word. - Session 6 | Where is God Moving History?
Learn where God is moving history, giving us a reason for being.
In addition to his role as the director of Ethnos360 Bible Institute Online, Scot has served as a professor and academic dean for Ethnos360 Bible Institute since 2003, and he serves as an adjunct faculty member at Dallas Theological Seminary. Scott earned a master’s in biblical studies and a doctorate in ministry from Dallas Theological Seminary, where he is currently pursuing a doctorate in Bible exposition. Previously, Scot served as a pastor at churches in Kentucky, Michigan and Texas. He and his wife, April, have been married 21 years and have three children, Jon Wiley, Madison and Sadie.
