Back in July, students and leaders from across the U.S. and Canada gathered at Indiana Wesleyan University for Momentum, a unique camp-style event designed to foster spiritual growth and impactful experiences for high school students. Over 2,400 teens and volunteers from all over participated, making it a powerful week filled with vibrant worship, meaningful conversations, and life-changing decisions.
60 students from WCC attended July 16th through the 20th for a week that, for many, rivaled a year’s worth of spiritual growth and investment. Four students made first-time decisions to follow Christ, while many recommitted their faith journeys. Several felt called to be missionaries in the workforce, and one student felt a call to full-time ministry. Still many others expressed a renewed eagerness to share their faith with friends.
Staying in the Indiana Wesleyan University dorms gave students and leaders the chance to form deeper connections. Nick Gordon, High School Pastor, fondly recalled the late-night conversations with students—sometimes lasting until two in the morning—as opportunities for honest and life-giving spiritual discussions. These moments, alongside the group activities and friendly competitions, helped cement the bonds between students and their leaders.
Momentum would not be possible without the unwavering support of WCC, which not only covered the event in prayer but also provided scholarships to ensure students could attend. Alongside the 60 students this year, six adults from WCC served as the two full-time staff and four volunteer leaders.
As lives were changed, faith was renewed, and students returned home with hearts on fire for Christ, there is no doubt that Momentum 2024 left a lasting legacy. And, with Momentum 2025, already on the horizon, students are eagerly counting down to another “best week of summer.”
