For four Sundays in October, Sonlight children and their families collected items for The Salvation Army’s food pantry and raised money for the organization. The goal was to collect 100 lbs. of food and raise $400. More than 200 lbs. of nonperishable items were delivered to the Salvation Army, and $311.74 was raised through classroom offerings and red kettle donations. Sonlight plans to increase the cash donation to $500.

“It was great seeing children and families get involved together and give generously toward our goals,” said Brooke Price, Children’s Ministries Pastor. “Having Sonlight children be bell ringers on Sunday mornings allowed them to take part and helped draw attention to the project, which overall, helped raise awareness of some of the needs in the community.”
