Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. (James 1:27, NIV)

Hello WCC! It’s hard to believe the snow has already hit the ground this season. With that said, we’ve got some great opportunities this fall to serve our community, learn more about local needs and partners, and become more equipped to live a life on mission. Welcome to the November edition of the Community Outreach Update…

VETERAN’S BRUNCH HELP NEEDED
Our School Team Ministry is thrilled to partner with Eisenhower Elementary’s PTO to host a Veteran’s Brunch on Wednesday, November 8 at WCC, following the Veteran’s program at the school. Some food and supplies are still needed to make this an enjoyable brunch for our guest Veteran’s and a family member. Please sign up online to bring one of the items listed. Items must arrive no later than 10am that morning, but earlier drop-offs can be arranged. Contact: Elizabeth Augustine, 574-377-0560.

LOCAL PARTNERS EXPO SUNDAY
Part of living life on mission where you live, work and play is getting involved in the community. Stop by the Local Missions Partners Expo in the café this Sunday, November 5 before or after services to meet our local partners and outreach teams and learn more about them and opportunities for serving in the community. Be sure to also take a few minutes to write a note of encouragement or a prayer for one of WCC’s partners and drop it in a designated basket. Learn more about WCC’s local partners and outreach teams at warsaw.cc/localoutreach.

FOSTER/ADOPTION/VULNERABLE CHILDREN SURVEY
In churches around the world, November is often recognized as a month of focus on vulnerable children. One of the “called spaces” WCC seeks to collectively impact our community in a positive way is through the care of vulnerable children and families. To do that, we are wanting to get a baseline assessment of the experience and interest in our own congregation. Whether you have prior or current experience with adoption, foster care or kinship placement, or you have an interest in learning more, or willing to come alongside adoptive and foster parents with “wraparound care,” please fill out this form and select all the statements that would apply to your experience or interest. Got questions, contact: Greg Demopoulos, 574-268-0188, x256.

SHARING HOPE CLASS
Join us for two nights of food, fellowship and learning on November 8 and 15 as we gain insight into how to be more aware of the people and the world around us. Each evening will include a combination of large group teaching, breakout sessions, and smaller group discussions that focus on the second half of WCC’s mission statement, … sharing the hope of the Gospel. There will be a relational and practical emphasis on our impact to help us live life on mission wherever we live, work and play. Sign up online.

NEWS AND TEXT ALERTS
As a heads up, when we have urgent needs, we post here on the WCC News Blog and often send a quick text message to our Community Outreach Response Team. You can sign up for the text message alerts by texting the word WCCRESPONSE to the number 877-329-2240.
