For three Sundays this summer (June 16, 23, and 30), WCC held a volunteer expo entitled “Step Out” to advertise the different areas of serving within the church. To coincide with those Sundays, a special sermon series with the same name was preached with intro videos of key volunteers sharing their experiences. Between services, congregants were able to walk past the 12 tables in the WCC café representing the church’s different ministries to learn more about their opportunities.
Ministries further enhanced their table displays with fun props relating to their area, including a bubble machine, giant Connect 4 game, Wii Rock Band setup, and more. Over a thousand people filtered past the various tables during the three Sundays to engage with the volunteers at each table, while the website featured a newly created serving opportunities webpage to give those interested a digital way to sign up.
A new logo of a puzzle piece with a foot “stepping out” was designed for the event but will also continue moving forward as the brand for new serving opportunities. As of this article’s posting, Sonlight volunteer small group leaders remain a big need for the coming school year.
