From July 22-26, 2024, Camp Adventure in North Webster, Ind., was home to a vibrant and life-changing experience for 89 fifth and sixth graders from WCC. Camp with an Impact offered an unforgettable week of worship, mentorship, and active learning, all designed to help students grow in their relationship with Christ, away from the usual distractions of home.
The week proved to be a spiritually impactful for six students making first-time decisions for Christ and several campers taking the next step in their faith journey by being baptized on September 29. One camper shared how nervous she had been coming to camp without knowing anyone, but quickly made friends. Another student was so inspired by worship at camp that he plans to audition for the church’s worship team. Yet another camper expressed a desire to talk to her mom about Jesus, using lessons from the camp booklet as a guide.
The camp’s impact was made possible by an incredible team of volunteers and staff. An experienced and dedicated group of 31 full-time staff members, many of whom were camp alumni, ensured effective leadership throughout the week. Volunteers took on various roles, including counselors, activity leaders, interns, check-in staff, and a camp nurse— all working tirelessly to facilitate the spiritual growth of our campers. Thanks to the generous contributions to WCC’s scholarship fund, the camp was able to be offered at an affordable price, making this life-changing experience accessible to more students.
Next year marks 25 years of Camp with an Impact. This camp has been a pivotal moment in the faith journey of dozens—if not hundreds—of students over the years. With continued support from the congregation, both through volunteer and monetary efforts, WCC can continue providing this invaluable experience for future generations.
