Baptism
Why should I be baptized?
Baptism is an outward sign of your decision to receive forgiveness of sin through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
When can I get baptized?
If you have placed your faith in Jesus Christ and want to make that public, now is the time!
When are baptisms scheduled?
Baptisms occur twice each year, once in summer and again in winter. Occasionally we add baptisms based on interest. These significant events are streamed online so you can share with friends and family.
Can my newborn be baptized?
Baptism is for those who have personally decided to trust Jesus alone for salvation, once they have the maturity and ability to understand what that means. For newborns, we invite parents to participate in a dedication ceremony, presenting their child before God and the church, seeking grace and wisdom to raise their child to know and trust Jesus.
Can my family be baptized together?
Water baptism is a personal decision for each individual family member. If everyone in your family accepted Jesus Christ as Savior and wants to take the next step of faith in water baptism, we are delighted to baptize your family.
Can I be baptized at WCC if I don’t attend?
We recommend you be baptized at your home church, but if that is not an option we welcome anyone who would like to make a public profession of faith be baptized at WCC.
Does WCC believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit?
WCC believes in the baptism, sealing, and infilling of the Holy Spirit upon acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior according to Ephesians 1:13-14. Baptism of the Holy Spirit is a benefit of yielding to the work of the Holy Spirit after salvation.
Can I be baptized differently than immersion?
Baptize is a Greek word for immersion. Our common practice is to step into water and someone helps you recline back and dip underwater for a brief moment as pictured in Romans 6:4-6.
Of course, the reason we are baptized is more important than the method. Another option to outwardly signify your inward change is to simply pour water on the head of the individual to represent baptism.
What should I expect?
Once you sign up to be baptized, you’ll be asked to attend two classes that cover the basics about baptism.
Our baptism celebrations are held at WCC’s pool. When the baptism begins, one of the pastors enters the water and welcomes everyone. After a brief explanation of what is happening and why, they will invite those being baptized into the water and ask:
- Do you believe Jesus Christ died for your sins?
- Do you believe Jesus rose from the dead on the third day?
- Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior?
If you answer yes to the questions, the pastor will baptize you in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit by tipping you back to submerge in the water and quickly come up again. Those watching clap and shout, celebrating your public confession of being a follower of Christ.

How can I help my hesitant child feel comfortable making the transition to a new environment?

Another option is for the parent to stay in the new class for beginning minutes or for the first couple visits until your child is settled.

This high-energy age group is kept busy with Friday night activities, retreats, camps and social events they can invite their friends to as well.
The C456 calendar is packed with great opportunities, so how is a parent to keep up?
C456 activities are usually single day/evening events, so the curriculum stands alone and is not dependent on what is presented at another event. Parents juggle numerous responsibilities, so they are encouraged to register their students for the classes and activities that best fit their family’s schedule. Registration for all events is quick and easy on the WCC website.
Do parents need to check their student in and out of the C456 classroom on Sunday mornings?

Give
Does this really honor God?
Many people feel that if giving is not done in the midst of a worship service, then it is somehow insignificant. The primary principle in giving is to be cheerful. The joy of giving comes from the faithfulness of people offering back to God some of the resources He has blessed them with. The method of giving is an individual choice. The ease and consistency of using online giving may help you meet your giving goals.
Is giving on the site safe? Is your site secure?
Absolutely. Our site uses industry-standard SSL technology to ensure that the information you enter is kept secure from prying eyes. In addition, all sensitive information that we keep in our database is stored in encrypted form so that it is not human-readable.
What is WCC’s tax status?
Warsaw Community Church is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and donations received are tax-deductible. However, you should consult your tax advisor to see if you can deduct your donations. Missions
Where are the most common places WCC has mission partners?
Some of the areas in which WCC has global mission partnerships are Papua New Guinea, Honduras, Haiti, the Balkans, East Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.
How do I give towards WCC Missions?
If you give to WCC, a portion of that gift will go to support our annual missions budget. You also can give specifically toward missions projects by writing “Missions” in the memo of your check or digital payment. You can also contribute to the annual “WCC Care Fund” at the end of the calendar year.
I’m not really a “missions” person. Why should I go to Wayumi?
Wayumi has something for everyone. Participants will learn truths that are relevant in Warsaw IN, or Wantikia, PNG. You’ll also better understand the core story woven through the Bible, the Great Commission, and that we each have a vital role in spreading the Gospel to our neighbors and the nations.
Can I bring my kids to Wayumi?
Certainly! We have had 37 WCCers join us ranging in age from 8 to 67-years old. Wayumi’s teaching is full of great storytelling, visual aids, and interactive exercises lead by real missionaries. The teachers pull the kids into the learning along with the rest of the participants. Everyone seems to love the fun, the teaching, the interactive experiences, and the community! Please ask us if you have any questions.
Where is Wayumi?
The Wayumi campus is in Jersey Shore, Central Pennsylvania — set in the beautiful Allegheny Mountains. The church provides van transportation.
What is a missions pit crew?
A Missions Pit Crew is a small group of people that meets regularly to serve a specific mission partner. Their primary ministry is listening to and learning about a partner and their work. In almost every case, a pit crew becomes a close-knit support network for the missionary. Consistent and informed prayer is the other important way a pit crew serves their partner.
What is expected of a missions pit crew member?
- Meet regularly with your crew to learn about, connect with, and pray for your Missions Partner and their work.
- Pray for, and communicate with your missions partner on an individual basis regularly.
- Engage in this ministry of encouragement for one year.
Why are missions pit crews important?
Serving God vocationally is a not easy. Our partners are engaged in a spiritual conflict. Whether serving here in Warsaw or in another country and culture, it’s important for our partners and their work to be understood, connected with our church, and consistently lifted up in prayer. Over time, you will be amazed that God will use you to help our partners in their mission to change lives for Christ.
