The Maleu Church/Least-reached Project
Missions Partner
Chris and Evie Jones | Gie, West New Britain, Papua New Guinea
Chris and Evie Jones took Jesus’ command to go and make disciples seriously. Since 2013, they have served as cross-cultural church planters among the Pei tribe in the Sepik region of Papua New Guinea. Planting a church in an unreached people group is a long, difficult process, but the rewards are eternal. Through the years, the Jones have learned the Pei language and culture and have taught Pei literacy and Bible lessons in the Pei language.
The Maleu church in Gie/Aimola, Papua New Guinea is the fruit of God’s work through the ministry of Todd and Karen Gerst and their partners Matt and Angie Hall. After a time of relationship building, and language and culture study, Todd and Matt taught God’s Word to the villagers of Gie. They then meticulously translated the New Testament. The process was long, difficult and often painful, but over time, God grew a body of believers who, in turn, have reached out with the Good News of Jesus, planting five churches in the neighboring villages. Todd and Karen continue to champion the cause of sending missionaries into areas without access to the Gospel.
