In 2021, as part of a Coalition of Churches for Vulnerable Children initiative, WCC adopted Eisenhower Elementary School as its school partner. The partnership allows WCC to support the teachers, staff and students at Eisenhower in numerous ways. Recently, WCC received numerous thank you cards from the school, expressing gratitude for WCC’s support throughout the year.

Some ways WCC supported Eisenhower Elementary and other area schools last year include:

  • Contributing food for fall parent/teacher conference week (PTO collaboration).
  • Donating to the Warsaw Education Foundation for the Quiz Bowl program.
  • Gifting home furnishings, furniture and gift cards to Eisenhower and Leesburg’s new ESL teachers.
  • Hosting a Veteran’s Day brunch at WCC (PTO collaboration).
  • Preparing a prespring break breakfast for staff and writing encouragement cards.
  • Promoting volunteer opportunities at the school, such as Eisenhower’s Christmas shop, and spring carnival and the need for classroom support.
  • Providing funds for car repairs from the WCC Benevolence Fund to an Eisenhower DLI teacher
  • Providing school supplies, donations and volunteers for Combined Community Services’ Tools for Schools event.
  • Providing food and drinks for the last day of school.
  • Providing food and clothing for students as needed throughout the year.

“Supporting Eisenhower Elementary is a great partnership for WCC because of the school’s proximity to the church, but most importantly, because it allows us to show Christ’s love to so many people, from teachers and staff to students and parents,” said Greg Demopoulos, pastor of outreach and engagement at WCC. “But the partnership doesn’t only fill tangible needs, it allows us to develop relationships with those we encounter, which is what living life on mission is all about.”
