Team members from WCC’s Helping Hands Ministry and employees from Monteith Tire joined forces Oct. 28 to launch the first Car Care Day, an event designed to lighten the load for women participating in The River, WCC’s single moms’ ministry.

Nick Miller, manager of Monteith Tire and a WCC attendee, partnered with WCC’s Helping Hands to provide free oil changes and significant car repairs on the cars of 14 moms. Monteith donated filters and oil, and technicians Dean, Micah and Seth donated their time and skills.

Helping Hands team members John Kimpel and Michael Phelps and The River coordinator Lisa King also participated to help ensure the moms left with their cars well-maintained and feeling loved and encouraged.

“Thank you so much,” said one mom. “This has been a great help and has really taken a huge weight off my shoulders.”

“This event was a true reflection of actively sharing the love of Christ in the community,” said Pastor of Care Ministries Jeff Pfeifer. “Special thanks to Nick for his generosity and leadership in putting this event together and to his team. The event went so well for a first-time effort, we are planning to do it again.”
